In the context of increasing security risks and regulatory requirements, high-performance shelter doors are becoming a critical component of modern protective infrastructure. SCArA shelter doors are designed as a robust, certified, and adaptable solution, ensuring a high level of protection while complying with national shelter regulations for short-term population protection (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 28/06).
Engineering Designed for Real-World Challenges
The doors are single-leaf, steel-constructed units equipped with dual locking mechanisms and an advanced redundant double sealing configuration sealing system ensuring superior gas and air tightness.
The door features a composite structure, made of steel plates and profiles with integrated thermal, blast and radiation insulation. The system includes:
- a double threshold and double frame for increased mechanical resistance,
- dual-point bearing hinges, engineered for stability and emergency removal,
- emergency opening capability, even under extreme conditions (leaf displacement, hinge removal).
Performance Beyond Conventional Standards
SCArA doors are engineered for scenarios where conventional solutions fail:
- Blast resistance: customizable up to 800 kPa (heavy blast-resistant version)
- Gas tightness: 1.5 m³/h at 300 Pa pressure differential
- Opening direction: outward (away from frame), with internal and external operation
A gas-tight version is also available, optimized for lower pressure scenarios (from 60 kPa), while maintaining high sealing and protective performance.
Verified Compliance with European Standards
The doors meet or exceed key European standards:
- Fire resistance: up to EI₂ 90 (EN 1634-1)
- Smoke control: Sa, S200 (EN 1634-3)
- Air tightness: Class 4 (EN 1026)
- Burglary resistance: RC2–RC5 (EN 1627)
- Watertightness: ensured
- Radiation protection: integrated
This combination enables deployment in both private facilities and critical infrastructure environments.
Dimensional and Project Flexibility
SCArA bunker (shelter) doors are modular by design, allowing adaptation to specific project requirements:
- Width: 600 mm to 1250 mm
- Height: 600 mm to 2250 mm
- Explosion pressure rating: defined per project specification
- Example structural opening: 1140 × 2140 mm for a clear opening of 1000 × 2000 mm
This flexibility ensures seamless integration into new builds as well as retrofit projects.
A Strategic Component of Modern Shelters
SCArA shelter doors are not just a construction element, but a core safety system that provides:
- protection against mechanical, pressure, and environmental impacts,
- reliable performance in emergency scenarios,
- long-term regulatory compliance.
For investors, facility operators, and public institutions, this translates into clear added value: enhanced structural resilience and increased occupant safety.
Safety is not a compromise.
